Territory Reports

Maptitude can print a series of reports (layouts) focused on individual areas. These are known as Territory Reports, although they do not necessarily require a territory layer. This is a batch process, a copy of the layout is printed for each feature in the area layer or selection set.

To create a territory report for the current map, set the working layer to be the area layer with the features that you wish to create reports for. Then select Tools->Geographic Utilities->Territory Reports on the main menu, to display the Territory Reports dialog box:

The Territory Reports dialog box

The layer’s name is reported in the dialog box’s title bar (here we used the default County layer). Choose the required selection set in the Print Multiple Areas from drop-down box. We are working with a subset of 30 counties around the area of interest.

Each page receives a name taken from a data field in the layer. Choose the data field from the Choose Name Field dropdown box. Maptitude comes with three layout templates that can be used, and these are chosen with the Layout Templates box. The choices are portrait, landscape or auto.

The Options determine if the map should be zoomed to the selected area feature, or whether an adjacent area should also be included. The adjacent map option can be useful to provide context to the map. Prompted Print will cause Maptitude to prompt for each and every map after it is created. This is useful if you wish to QC maps, or only want to produce a few.  Snap Legend forces the legend to be positioned on the map (in its current map position). The alternative is for it to be placed by the layout template.

Press OK when all options have been set. If Prompted Print has been cleared, the maps will be sent directly to the printer as they are produced, otherwise they are printed as the user confirms them.
