MapPoint can draw text boxes on a map to provide annotation. Most MapPoint shapes are defined in terms of map coordinates. Text boxes are the exception – their size is defined in terms of pixels. This means they take up the same amount of screen space regardless of the zoom level. Here is an example, zoomed in:

And zoomed out:

This can be very annoying for many applications, but does guarantee the text’s readability at all zoom levels.
Add a text box by pressing the Text Box button (box with a letter ‘A’) on the Drawing Toolbar:
The Drawing Toolbar
This will display an empty text box with a cursor. Type the required text into this text box. De-selecting the text box will cause it to re-size to the size of the text box.
The text can be easily modified by selecting the text box, and then clicking in the text. A text cursor will then appear where you clicked.
The font color can be changed by using the Font Color drop-down button (the letter ‘A’ with the current color as an underline) on the Drawing Toolbar. Use this drop-down list to select a new font color for the current text box.
The text box fill and outline can also be changed. This is explained further on the Setting the Drawing Attributes page.
