MapPoint has a range of drawing tools which can be used to draw and annotate the map. They can also be used to query pushpin datasets – e.g. “Which of my customers are within this territory shape?“.
The drawing tools are all on the Drawing Toolbar, the small button version of which looks like this:
The Drawing Toolbar
By default, this toolbar is switched off. Switch it on using the View->Toolbars->Drawing option on the main menu.
In order from left to right, these buttons do the following:
- The Draw drop-down is used to move shapes in-front of behind roads or other shapes.
- Highlight a place
- Scribble (free-form line that is dragged)
- Straight line
- Line with arrow
- Free-form (polyline or polygon with multiple points)
- Rectangle
- Ellipse or circle
- Radius circle (circle with a radius distance display)
- Text box
- Fill color
- Line color
- Text color
- Line thickness
- Arrow style (single or double ended)
The shape property drop-down buttons (color, thickness,etc) can be used to change the properties of the currently selected shape.
